Which Specifications Matter When Choosing a Haulotte Articulated Boom Lift?

Compare working and platform height, horizontal outreach, platform load, access dimensions and the power configuration when choosing a Haulotte articulated boom lift. Start with the work point and the place where the machine can stand. A lift reaching the required height can still have the wrong approach path or be too large for the access route.

Haulotte's selection guidance considers the operating environment, height, outreach and load together. Treat those as connected requirements instead of choosing a machine from one headline figure.

How should you compare height and outreach?

Use the manufacturer's field names and market specification. Platform height refers to the platform deck; working height includes a reach allowance. Do not turn one into the other by adding a generic allowance to a different regional sheet.

For illustration, the North American HA46 RTJ PRO page checked on 11 October 2026 gives the following reference figures, converted to metric and rounded to two decimal places:

Specification HA46 RTJ PRO reference
Working height Approximately 15.82 m
Platform height Approximately 14.00 m
Horizontal outreach Approximately 8.31 m
Machine width Approximately 2.31 m
Platform lift capacity Approximately 226.80 kg

The table converts one North American source; it does not substitute figures from a different regional model sheet. These maxima are separate values, not a promise of full load at maximum height and maximum outreach together. Request the applicable envelope for the offered machine.

What needs to fit between the machine and the work?

The arm needs a usable approach path as well as sufficient reach. Record the location and dimensions of roofs, pipework, equipment or other obstructions between the standing position and the work point.

An articulated boom's jointed sections help position the platform around obstacles, but the required path must still lie within its permitted envelope. Ask the supplier to assess the actual geometry with the intended platform load. An outreach figure alone does not answer an up-and-over requirement.

Which access dimensions should you request?

Request width, length, height and turning information for the configuration that will travel through the site. Check the narrowest entrance, lowest overhead obstruction and available turning space along the complete route.

Ask separately for transport dimensions and actual machine mass when arranging delivery. A brochure's general dimensions may describe a different arm or jib position from the delivery configuration. Keep these measurements together instead of combining the smallest figures found in different sections.

How do power and ground conditions affect the choice?

The HA46 RTJ PRO reference is a diesel rough-terrain model. That classification should not be applied to Haulotte's electric articulated range or used as proof that any particular ground condition is suitable.

State whether the work is indoors, outdoors or both, and identify restrictions on exhaust, noise and available charging power. Then confirm the exact powertrain, tires and fitted equipment. Do not assume every electric machine has the same chassis capability or every diesel machine has identical access dimensions.

What makes two quotations comparable?

Compare the same model, market specification, platform configuration, options and documentation. Identify the total intended platform load, including people, tools and materials, before checking the rating for the planned work.

Our Haulotte equipment range provides a starting point for an enquiry. Send the work geometry, access measurements, load and destination, then request the offered unit's specification sheet and operating documents. The reference example above does not establish current stock or the specification of another model.
